KINGSWOOD

The client approached Cinema Luxe with a clear and compelling vision: to
create a dedicated home cinema that embodied the glamour and
elegance of 1930s Art Deco, reinterpreted through a clean, modern lens.
The space needed to offer a fully immersive cinematic experience, while
remaining discreet, luxurious, and consistent with the refined interiors
found throughout the rest of the home.

Located in Kingswood, Surrey, the room presented a number of
architectural and acoustic challenges. Cinema Luxe began by rebalancing
the spatial geometry—modifying both the front and rear walls to discreetly
house subwoofers and fine-tuning the structure to optimise acoustic
performance.

With the performance foundation established, focus shifted to the room’s
materiality and aesthetic detailing. Various silk-based fabrics were
rigorously tested for acoustic transparency and visual quality, before being
applied to wall panels. These treatments allow the audio system and
acoustic elements to remain hidden, while introducing a soft, glamorous
tactility to the space. A bespoke rear riser was constructed to enhance
sight-lines, incorporating Cinema Luxe’s custom bouclé-upholstered
seating for added comfort and cohesion.

To evoke the timeless appeal of Art Deco, hand-finished antiqued mirrors
were carefully positioned on the rear wall and stage risers—subtly
extending the sense of depth without interrupting the viewing experience.
Finishing touches include cut-glass and marble lighting fixtures, brought
to life through a fully integrated Savant control system and Lutron lighting
control.

The final result is a harmonious fusion of performance and beauty—an
immersive, acoustically precise cinema that captures the spirit of 1930s
glamour within a contemporary family home.
