Cinema Luxe are proud to have been shortlisted for the 'Best Home Cinema' award at this year's International Design And Architecture Awards.

Hosted by Design Et Al and running for over 15 years, the International Design & Architecture Awards promotes the leading companies from the interior design & architecture industry, bringing together the design elite for an international celebration of their work. Believed to be “the pinnacle of recognition within the industry”, only the best within the field can be shortlisted.

Over 91,000 industry professionals will cast their votes over a 4-week period, meaning the winners of each award are decided by the industry itself. The awards ceremony will take place on the 5th September 2025 at The Grosvenor hotel in London.

Darren Barker, Design Director at Cinema Luxe said  ‘‘After winning the 'Best Home Cinema' award at the International Design and Architecture awards in 2024, we are delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award for the second year in a row. Knowing that the voting process is cast exclusively by our peers in the industry makes this award particularly important. We are immensely proud of the work we do, always looking to push the boundaries of design and performance within a space. Being acknowledged in this way not only brings further recognition to ourselves, but to the wider design and technology industry as a whole.

'Kingswood' is an exceptional private cinema situated in Surrey, that seamlessly blends 1930s Art Deco glamour with the performance demands of a modern home. Tasked with realising a client’s vision of a refined yet immersive cinematic space, Cinema Luxe crafted a room that is both technically sophisticated and visually captivating.

The design strikes a delicate balance between Art Deco elegance and contemporary restraint. The architectural foundation was carefully reconfigured to enhance acoustic performance, with the front and rear walls subtly housing high-spec subwoofers. These structural changes were executed in collaboration with Cre8tive Rooms and premium speaker brand Artcoustic, ensuring optimal sound distribution without compromising aesthetics.

A key challenge was concealing advanced audio-visual components while preserving the room’s luxurious ambiance. Cinema Luxe achieved this through the use of acoustically transparent silk wall treatments and bespoke joinery tailored to the room’s performance needs. Bouclé-upholstered seating offers comfort and cohesion, positioned on a custom rear riser that improves sightlines and enhances the cinematic experience.

To subtly deepen the space and reference Art Deco styling, hand-finished antiqued mirrors were placed on the rear wall and stage risers. Lighting played a crucial role in the design, with cut-glass and marble fixtures providing a soft, glamorous glow. These are fully integrated with the wider smart home ecosystem through Savant control and Lutron lighting systems, ensuring intuitive operation with a seamless aesthetic.

The end result is a space that embodies both beauty and function. Cinema Luxe’s architectural approach avoids theatrical clichés, favouring a sophisticated material palette and thoughtful detailing. The cinema not only delivers a fully immersive AV experience but also elevates the daily lives of its users with quiet luxury and timeless design.
